What’s new in QORUM
69 recent changes, in plain language. All of it is live now. Grouped by who it affects, newest first in each group. Last updated September 15, 2026.
The big ones
Donations and sponsorships
Switch on a Donate button for your site. Donors give once, monthly or yearly without an account, and every gift lands in your Stripe account. Sponsorship levels can be yearly-only, with their benefits described in full.
Pay while joining
Members pick a free or paid membership on the join form. Paid memberships are paid right there, without leaving the site, and start straight away.
Members hear back
People get a “request received” email when they ask to join, and a “you're approved” email the moment an administrator approves them.
Start an organisation yourself
Anyone can set up their organisation's site at qorum.ca/signup, with a 14-day free trial and no card needed.
Easier event setup
New events show every section from the start, registration questions save as you type, and good questions can be saved and reused.
Committee pages your way
Give members a committee title, choose what each card on a member grid page shows, and drag people into the order you want.
Joining & member accounts
What people see when they join, sign in and look after their own account.
- Sep 13
Approved members always get a membership
Someone who chose a paid membership, skipped payment and was then approved joins the organisation's first free membership, instead of ending up with none.
- Sep 13
The payment form loads again
A change on Stripe's side stopped the on-page payment form from loading at signup and in My Membership. It works again in both places.
- Sep 11
Choose a membership when you join
The join form lists the organisation's membership types. Free ones go to an administrator for approval. Paid ones are paid on the next screen, and the membership starts as soon as payment goes through. Paid options appear once the organisation has connected Stripe.
- Sep 11
Pay later from My Membership
Someone who skips payment keeps their account and can pay any time from My Membership, in the same on-page payment form.
- Sep 11
A clear “pending approval” screen
After asking to join, people see that an administrator will review their request and which email address will hear back. Before, they were sent back to the sign-in page.
- Sep 11
Approval emails
Members get an email as soon as they're approved, with a link to sign in, whether they're approved one at a time, in bulk, or from their profile.
- Sep 11
A reminder bar for pending members
Signed-in members who are still waiting for approval see a quiet amber bar across the site.
- Sep 5
The welcome email now arrives
The “we've received your request” email carries your organisation's name and branding. Before this, it was being rejected and never reached anyone.
- Aug 31
Reset a forgotten password
A “Forgot password?” link on the sign-in pages emails a link for choosing a new one.
- Aug 31
Change your email address
Members can update their email from their profile and confirm it from the new inbox, with a clear message if the change doesn't go through.
- Aug 31
One login, several organisations
People who belong to more than one organisation choose which to open after signing in, and can switch from their portal.
- Aug 31
See which page you're on
The site menu highlights the current page, so clicking “My Portal” while you're already there no longer looks like the site froze.
- Aug 28
A friendlier join form
Type your password twice, show or hide it as you type, and skip country and province if you'd rather not say.
- Aug 28
Reset links open the right page
Links in password-reset emails always open the page for choosing a new password.
- Aug 28
Join with an email already on QORUM
People who already use QORUM through another organisation can join yours with the same email address.
Running your organisation
The admin area, for administrators and managers.
- Sep 13
Committee titles
Administrators can give a member a committee title, such as Chair or Treasurer. It appears above their job title on their profile, in the member directory and on member grid pages.
- Sep 13
Choose what member cards show
On a member grid page, pick which details appear on each card: committee title, job title, company and bio.
- Sep 13
Drag people into order
Reorder the people on a member grid page, such as a committee page, by dragging them. The arrow buttons still work too.
- Sep 13
Delete members who registered for events
Members who had registered for an event can now be deleted. Their registrations stay on the event under their name.
- Sep 11
New requests show up without reloading
The red dot on Members appears when someone asks to join, as you move between admin pages or return to the tab.
- Sep 11
“Chapter” wording removed
Buttons and page descriptions now read “Become a Member” and suit any kind of organisation.
- Sep 11
Contact form messages arrive reliably
They come from your organisation's name, and Reply goes straight to the person who wrote.
- Sep 11
Simpler time zones
Canadian and US zones that keep the same clock are now one choice each, and new organisations start on Eastern Time.
- Sep 11
Banners no longer overlap
Trial, demo and pending-approval bars stack neatly along the top, on a computer and on a phone.
- Aug 31
Undo an accidental promotion
Administrators can be moved back to manager or regular member.
- Aug 30
Managers can set up billing
Managers can start the organisation's QORUM subscription, not only manage it once it exists.
- Aug 28
Managers get into the admin area
Managers see the Admin link and can use the parts of the admin area their role allows.
- Aug 28
Delete unused membership types
A membership type can be deleted once no members are assigned to it. The page shows how many members each type has.
- Aug 28
Delete members who have paid
Members with payment history can now be deleted, and their payment records are kept for your books.
Events
Creating events, taking registrations and selling tickets.
- Sep 15
Shared event links show a preview
When an event has no cover photo, links shared on LinkedIn, Slack or in messages now show a card in your organisation's colours with the event title and date.
- Sep 13
A reminder before you lose changes
Leaving an event you haven't saved asks whether to save and leave, discard your changes, or stay.
- Sep 11
Everything saves on the first click
A new event shows every section up front, including registration questions, the replay link and the follow-up email, and Create Event saves all of it at once.
- Sep 11
Questions save as you go
Each registration question saves automatically, with a small icon showing whether it's unsaved, saving or saved.
- Sep 11
Name your saved questions
Give a saved question a name so it's easy to find for your next event.
- Sep 11
Answers stay safe while you edit
Editing an event's questions keeps the answers people have already given.
- Sep 11
No more duplicate tickets
Saving an event twice no longer creates a second copy of newly added ticket types.
- Sep 11
An accurate “unsaved changes” bar
It appears only when something has actually changed, and confirms when your changes are saved.
- Sep 1
A library of reusable questions
Save a registration question once and add it to any later event.
- Sep 1
New events start with a ticket
A free “General Admission” ticket is already filled in, ready to rename or put a price on.
- Aug 31
Matching calendar buttons
Confirmation emails show “Add to Google Calendar” and “Add to Outlook Calendar” as equal buttons.
- Aug 31
The save bar no longer covers the form
The bottom of the event form stays visible above the save bar.
Lists, campaigns and the automatic emails QORUM sends for you.
- Sep 13
Previews match the real email
Email previews, including the post-event email, now look exactly like the email people receive, header colours and all.
- Sep 11
Automatic emails use your template
Receipts, approvals and confirmations always use your organisation's email template, even if you've created more than one.
- Sep 5
Failed emails are reported
If an invitation, password reset or receipt can't be delivered, you're told, and the email log shows it as failed instead of sent.
- Aug 31
Correct list sizes
All Members, Active Members and Newsletter Subscribers show their real counts. They used to show 0.
- Aug 31
A clearer tab name
“Subscribers” is now “Newsletter Subscribers”, so it's clear the list is newsletter sign-ups rather than members.
Payments & billing
What members and donors pay your organisation, and what your organisation pays QORUM.
- Sep 15
Donations and sponsorships
Turn on donations in Finance → Donations and a Donate button appears on your site. Set up what people can give to, such as a general donation or a sponsorship level, with suggested amounts. Available once your organisation has connected Stripe.
- Sep 15
Give once, monthly or yearly
Donors choose an amount, choose how often to give, and pay on the page without an account. They get an email receipt, and your administrators are emailed about each new gift.
- Sep 15
Sponsorship packages
A package can be set to recurring only — a Gold level given every year, say — so donors aren't offered a one-off payment. Describe what each package includes with bullet points and bold text, and add an introduction above the whole page.
- Sep 15
Name the button yourself
Call it Donate, Sponsor us, or whatever suits your organisation. The page's address follows the name, and your old donate link keeps working.
- Sep 15
Anonymous giving is your choice
Decide whether donors are offered the option to give without being named.
- Sep 15
Less typing for members
Members who are signed in see their name, email and company already filled in, with an Edit button if anything has changed.
- Sep 15
See, export and refund donations
Every gift is listed with the donor's details. Export the whole list or a single donation, resend a receipt, refund a payment, or cancel a recurring gift.
- Sep 11
A refund policy page
qorum.ca/refunds explains QORUM's own charges in plain language: cancel any time and keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. It's linked in the site footer.
- Sep 11
Platform fee on refunds, spelled out
When an organisation refunds a member, QORUM's platform fee on that payment isn't returned. The Terms of Use and the refund page now say so.
- Aug 31
Choose your billing email
The Account page asks where invoices and receipts should go, instead of guessing from old contact details.
- Aug 30
Access starts right after checkout
Your organisation's subscription switches on as soon as checkout finishes, and a slow confirmation from Stripe can no longer leave a paid account locked out.
- Aug 30
Renewals keep members up to date
A change on Stripe's side would have stopped membership renewals from extending members' expiry dates. Renewals are read correctly again.
- Aug 30
A countdown for trials and free access
Administrators see how many days are left on a trial or complimentary access, with a link to billing. Complimentary access can now be given an end date.
